Chocolate Anyone?

First a little background on the art itself. This piece is called GNAW (Chocolate Gnaw and Lard Gnaw). It was sculpted in 1992 by Janine Antoni. The materials used were 2 600lb cubes- one of chocolate and one of lard. The tool used to sculpt this was Antoni's teeth. Don't be alarmed, she didn't eat the chocolate or lard; she used the remainder to sculpt chocolate boxes and lipstick. (See the picture at the end of this post.)

Now on to the Argument:

What are the consequences of comfort food on body image???

Comfort Food hurts Body Image
Because Comfort Food causes Weight Gain
Whatever causes Weight Gain also hurts Body Image

Audience

The audience is women concerned with their body image who also enjoy chocolate as a comfort food.

Goal

The goal of this argument is to get women to indulge in their desires for comfort food despite the view that society has of them.

How
The fact the artist used her teeth to sculpt the chocolate and lard appeals to ethos because it shows her credibility as an artist through her commitment to make the art as real as possible.
The sculptures appeal to pathos because many women can relate to the desire and emotional need for comfort food such as chocolate and they also understand that by indulging in that comfort food their feeling afterward, despite how much better the chocolate has made them feel, is something very similar to the feeling of just having eaten lard which affects their body image.
The argument is sufficient because of how much it is able to say with two 600lb cubes and one word: GNAW. It gets the important point across without delving into too much unneeded information or explanation.
Although this argument in the form of a sculpture is very different in its appearance it is, nonetheless, typical because such a huge population of women can relate and can understand what the art is trying to portray without any other words besides GNAW.
This argument is accurate, especially because the artist used her teeth to create a sculpture called GNAW. It is accurate because she used the actual materials and used them to such an excess that she makes her point.
This argument was relevant when it was created and is becoming more relevant as time progresses because women, now more than ever, are feeling the pressure to be thin and not indulge in their favorite foods.

Effective?
This argument is effective because of the intense appeal to pathos. Such a large portion of the audience can relate to the feeling of wanting to eat chocolate for comfort or to ease their emotions. Just the sight of one huge cube of chocolate, which is what they see and taste, and one huge cube of lard, which is how they feel afterwards, would catch the attention of any woman and help her relate to what the artist is trying to tell them.

And now for your viewing pleasure....THE LEFTOVERS:
